Breakfast Banana Split

Bananas, yogurt and fruit, healthy breakfast, easy breakfast

For an easy, nutritious and festive breakfast, try a Breakfast Banana Split. Start by slicing a banana lengthwise and put it in your dish. Add granola if you choose. Add your favorite plain or vanilla yogurt. Choose toppings of fruit or fruit preserves and add sprinkles. For less fuss, make a sundae.

Some ideas for toppings: fresh fruit, fruit preserves and canned or frozen fruit.

Some ideas for sprinkles: nuts, seeds, coconut and granola.

Some of my favorite combinations: fresh blueberries with pecans, cherry preserves with pine nuts, fresh blackberries with slivered almonds, fresh mango with coconut, fresh strawberries or strawberry preserves with walnuts and fresh pineapple with sunflower seeds or coconut.

Build-Your-Own-Banana-Split is a fun option when a group gathers for breakfast or brunch. You can create a beautiful and colorful display of ingredients and accommodate everyone’s style of eating. You can include sweet vanilla yogurt, plain Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurt. You can offer gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free or sugar-free options. It’s fun to see everyone’s colorful creations.
