Nasturtiums are a great choice for your garden and your kitchen. They are as easy to grow in a garden or container as other herbs, they look great, and they add beauty and elegance to your plate. I recommend making nasturtiums a regular part of your spring planting. They serve double duty, as a source of beauty and color in your garden or container, and as an addition to your supply of ingredients for summer dishes. They have a beautiful array of yellows and oranges.

One option I love is to add them to breakfast. Lowly boiled eggs can become an elegant meal in minutes. In this case, the eggs are topped with spicy mayo and green onions and served with grape tomatoes and nasturtiums. I shared my spicy mayo recipe last week, and I reattached it to this post.

In this example, the eggs are topped with sweet and spicy sauce and black sesame seeds and served with avocado and nasturtiums. I shared my sweet and spicy sauce recipe last week, and I reattached it to this post.

I love to add nasturtiums to a salad. It’s so beautiful. For me, it’s great to mix a zip of nasturtium greens with a green leaf lettuce for the salad base. Then add the nasturtium flowers with your other favorite toppings.
